The Houghton project is based in a 200 acre working farm in north Herefordshire. It is run as a mixed farm and offers training and hands-on experience in all aspects of farm life to adults with learning disabilities or mental health problems, and young people who are struggling in mainstream education.
Orchard Origins, with our volunteers, has been helping to plant an orchard of 250 mixed variety apple and pear trees.
We are also in the process of conducting a survey of their traditional orchard.
The Houghton project has offered Orchard Origins space in their milking parlour to store fruit and finished products, as well as the use of their apple press.
