We work in the orchards most Fridays throughout the year.
Volunteers meet at Lower Farm House, Hereford at 10.30am. Transport is provided to and from the orchard site. We normally finish around 4.30pm in the summer and just before dusk in the winter.
Volunteer work groups are led by experienced or trained leaders who will explain what needs to be done and demonstrate how to use the correct equipment safely.
All equipment used in the orchards is provided including gardening gloves. As you will be working outside you should wear appropriate footwear and clothing for the weather conditions.
Volunteers should be aware that most of the orchards have slopes, trip hazards and low branches. Much of the work we do is quite physical in nature. Very few have toilets facilities except those that nature provides.
We undertake site and task specific risk assessments and a level of accident insurance for our volunteers.
