We at Orchard Origins are delighted to announce that we will be supporting Helping Britain Blossom in Herefordshire by delivering some of the training of Orchard Leaders and through an equipment sharing scheme. A partnership between HEINEKEN UK, The Urban Orchard Project and the Bulmer Foundation, Helping Britain Blossom believes orchards are a powerful way to bring people together to create green spaces and build healthier, happier and more sustainable communities.
Throughout 2015 and into 2016, Helping Britain Blossom will support communities to create community orchards in around 100 locations in London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Manchester, Leeds and Herefordshire (a final area is to be decided by a community competition).
Whether planting a new orchard or restoring an existing one, Orchard Origins will be training new Orchard Leaders in orchard management skills so they can take responsibility for ensuring their orchard is well looked after and the wider community are involved or consulted.
By digging, planting and pruning, the dream of creating a community orchard can be realised. For more information about Helping Britain Blossom visit www.helpingbritainblossom.org.uk
